Eucharistic Celebration at St. Thomas is Saturday June 2 at 5 pm. Weekday masses are at 9 am. On Tuesday Mass was for Audree Maxa, on Thursday mass is for Members of the LAOH. There was a mass for Don Halloran at St. Scholastica, Wednesday morning, at 8 am.

St. Thomas will be honoring the graduates on Saturday May 26th. This year all St.Thomas graduates are graduating from the New Prague High School: Annie Connelly- daughter of Jim and Corrine Connelly, Rita Halloran – daughter of Bruce and Cathy Halloran, and Holly Oak – daughter of Andy and Barb Oak.

The graduation season is here. The immediate graduates, growing up in the St. Thomas area, are well known. The graduates, generations from St.Thomas, lose their connections in the generations. If you know any with connections, let us know. Let’s honor them… and connect them.

Loren Boelter, grandson of Jack and Vangie Burns, had a graduation reception Friday night, at his home near Green Isle. Karaoke was enjoyed by many. Loren graduated from Le Sueur-Henderson High School and is …one generation from St.Thomas.

Lucy Retka, student of St. Ben’s University in St. Cloud, was home for a few days. She left Thursday morning, May 17th to spend a few months in Spain. She’ll be staying “a little ways” from Madrid.

Kathryn Ann Olsen and Joshua Bernard Retka, son of Gene and Sharon, was married on May 19th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie. Dinner and dance followed at the Oakridge in Chaska.

A few St. Thomas folks were in Henderson on Saturday afternoon and evening for the kick-off the 2007 Sauerkraut Days celebration.

Mary and Eileen Hanlon have been on the go. On Mother's Day, Mary and daughter, Eileen went to the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, O'Shaughnessy Auditorium, to enjoy Dr. Maya Angelou, the renowned Civil Rights Activist and Renaissance woman who is one of the great voices of contemporary literature. Dr. Angelou read her poetry and prose to standing ovations. Eileen and her sister, Sharon, are alumni of the College of St. Catherine. On Mother’s Day, Mary and Eileen visited Mary’s daughter Susie and granddaughters, Angela and Ashely, at their home in Savage.

The first week in May, Eileen went to Gainesville, Florida, home of the Gators, to attend her niece Brittany's graduation from college. Brittany, daughter of Sharon Hanlon and Dr. David Rawlings, will be attending law school later this summer, following in her mother's and Aunt Eileen’s footsteps. Eileen spent 4 days in Naples at Sharon's house and celebrated Sharon's birthday with her on May 7.

The new landmark… or newly painted landmark on 19, Hanlon’s Purple Silo has had a red dome for a couple weeks now, but Mary Hanlon keeps saying “Not yet. It’s not done yet.”

Happy 65th to Joan Oak on May 31. (Thanks, Jim)

Nice rain Saturday night, could sure use more of it! Chuck Retka and Ed Halloran got 6/10. Jim Oak got 3/10. St. Thomas got 1/10 of an inch.

Did you know…the word news was coined from the fact that early daily papers carried images of globes on their mastheads and boasted that their reports came from all directions…North, East, West, and South. We can boast that our NEWS comes from North, East, West and South… of St. Thomas.
Till next week, folks, have a good one.
