The Eucharistic Celebration at St. Thomas is Saturday, March 3rd at 5 pm. Weekday masses are at 9 am. On Tuesday mass is for Mildred (Byrne) Zika, on Thursday mass is for Timothy Burns.

The Confraternity of Catholic Women (CCW) meeting was held Monday, the 19th. New officers are: Susie Witt as president, Tammy Simon as vice-president, Rita O’Connell will remain as treasurer, and Barb Oak as Secretary. Many thanks to Kathy Connelly, our out-going president, for the great job.

(Whoops) Edward and Eileen Burns were married at All Saint’s Church in Madison Lake on Valentine’s Day 1957, not St. Anne’s… And Greg Traxler took his wife “Anne”, not Mary, out Valentine’s Day evening. (She’s still a saint)

Services for Kenneth Von Wald were Monday, February 19th at the First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur, with burial in Kenyon at the Holden Church Cemetery. Mr. Von Wald passed away at the Minnesota Valley Health Center, February 15th, at the age of 95. Many of us, on the Le Sueur side of St. Thomas, knew Mr. Von Wald as our principal at the Le Sueur High School. He was employed by the school district from 1952 until 1976. Many of us remember him as a sensitive, friendly and fair man.

Another baptism is the family. Erin Rosemary Busch was baptized Sunday, February 18th at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague. A brunch was at Erin’s home after the Baptism. Erin is the daughter of Dan and Jolene Busch of New Prague, and her Godparents are Mark and Connie Gill also of New Prague. Erin’s grandparents are Larry and Linda (O’Connell) Kotek, Jim and Rosemary Busch of Jordan and her Great-grandmother Lorraine O’Connell is from St. Thomas. (Thanks, Lorraine).

John “Tar” and Betty Halloran went out to see Raymond and Barb (Fogarty) Hobbs family at Price, Utah. Tar and Betty’s grandson, Travis Hobbs, won the State High Dive for Utah. (Thanks, Tim)

The Le Sueur-Henderson Middle School had their Third Annual Exploratory Day, Friday the 23rd and many seventh-graders were ready to try their hand at mini projects. Sam Burns learned how to make a bird-feeder and Marie Retka spent the day teaching digital photography and cake decorating to the seventh graders. She baked dozens of large egg-shaped cookies and eager students neatly decorated them. Brent O’Connell was proud of his creative art-work, mostly in his favorite color… green!

Travis Rutt won First Place in the 160 pound weight class at the Regional Tournament on Saturday, and his team from Jackson County Central took First Place also. Travis is the son of John and Cathy Rutt. Good Luck at State for Travis and his team!

From the Archives; “Monroe Denzer sold his 80-acre farm in Tyrone Township to Frank Meyer and Leo Hayden for $12,000.” BPH Feb 23, 1917 The Frank Meyer farm is located on CR 33 by the Dist 35 School that burned a couple years ago … and the Leo Hayden farm is “around the corner, down the hill and right there on the right” Do you know where that is? (Thank you, Raymond Connelly)

“James Connelly one time resident of St. Thomas passed away at his home in Duluth.” BPH Feb 23, 1947 If anyone has any information on this James Connelly, please contact us with your information.

“Six to eight inches of snow” on ice here in St. Thomas after “the storm of the season” last weekend…and more expected. Stay safe, folks.
