Did you see him? Page 38 of the The Farmer, January 2007 edition, Chuck Retka is featured in an article titled “Minnesota Farmer Benefits from Technology.” It mentioned the rootworm problem Chuck and other farmers in the area were having and how Chuck combated the problem on his farm. (Tryin’ not to sound like a commercial but…) Dekalb is one of the seed brands they plant. The information was provided by Dekalb and Chuck is a third generation Dekalb user. Chuck’s dad, Jerry, and grandfather, Bernard were Dekalb users. A good picture of Chuck accompanied the article; although he usually doesn’t look that serious.

The United States President announced Wednesday night that the 34th Infantry Division sent to Iraq last March will have their deployment extended beyond this March. This includes Tim O’Connell. Tim’s dad, Kenny, said they’ve talked to Tim and Tim’s attitude is “It’s part of the job, goes with the territory.” Kenny went on to say “Tim didn’t seem upset with this, but he wasn’t happy. We’re more upset on this end. We were looking forward to seeing him in a few short weeks…and now it’s not gonna happen” No one knows for how long “Might even be mid-July” before they see their son. Tim came home last July 13th for two fast weeks. However long this tour takes, it won’t be soon enough for Kenny and Debbie O.
Have a good week, folks.
