The Eucharistic Celebration at St. Thomas is Saturday, December 30th, at 5 pm. There will be no mass on New Year’s Eve, and on New Year’s Day, the Feast of Mary, a 9 am mass will be held at St. Thomas. Weekday masses are at 9 am. On Tuesday mass was for Leona Mager, on Thursday mass is for Richard McDevitt.

Many St. Thomas folks gathered this Christmas, to mention a few:
The Oak families enjoyed their Christmas gathering on Sunday at Jim and Joan’s home.
They entertained Dave and Jenny Cink, with Katie and Stephani, Andy and Barb, James, Holly and boyfriend Brad, Tom and Sheila with Connor, Kegan and Keely.

A Christmas Day celebration was at the T.C and Kathy Connelly home, where Dorothy Connelly, Greg and Joan Salmonson came from Owatonna, Warren and Judy Connelly came from Le Center, their daughter Chris and Todd Chadderdon with Nick, Nate, and Lauren, Bruce and Colleen Budin from Le Center and “CJ”, Joe, Erin and Thomas, Jim and Kathy Ellefson came from St. Francis, Ron and Barb Schaffler from Le Sueur, with daughter Emily, son, Scott with fiancé, Jill, and of course Denis Connelly from Apple Valley and David came home. Bruce Connelly didn’t make it…flu.

Also, on Christmas Day, Orin and Jan Retka entertained their family, Jim and Mary Jean Halloran’s family all came home. The Connelly and Holden families gathered at Joe and Amy Holden’s home on Cedar Lake. The Jack and Vangie Burns family enjoyed a Merry Christmas at the home of Barney and Jean Burns.

Bob and Iris Sullivan entertained her sisters, Joy Seema, Daisy and Rob Babone of New Prague, and Sally and Hank Schleeter from Mantorville, and grandchildren, Molly, Mandy and Joe Sullivan. Bob and Iris’s daughter, Shannon Ault, from Eden Prairie, showed up later.

Kenny and Debbie O’Connell gathered at the lower level of State Bank in Le Center on Saturday, where close to fifty members of the Blaschko family celebrated the holiday. On Christmas Day, Karen, Jared and Katlyn Harvey from Burnsville, enjoyed the day at Kenny and Debbie’s home, and Debbie’s brother, Rob Blaschko, from Burnsville, was also a guest. Kenny’s “favorite mother-in-law”, Betty Williams, from Sun City, Arizonia, is visiting for a couple weeks, and Todd and Peggy Sullivan also closed Christmas Day 2006 at the O’Connell home.

Congratulations to Jenny! Jenny Vlasak was recognized as a “Redbird of the Week” last week, picked by the faculty of the Mongomery-Lonsdale High School, based on “good citizenship, cooperation, and on being in good academic standing.” Way to go, girl!
Jenny’s a senior this year in basketball, Art Team, Center Stage Dance and also works at the Northfield Care Center. Jenny is the daughter of Kurt and Colleen Shaughnessy Vlasak, and the granddaughter of Bill (1933-2006) and Donna Shaughnessy and Alvin (1926-2004) and Rita Moore Vlasak (1925-1993). That makes Jenny…two generations from St. Thomas on her Dad’s side…and one generation from St. Thomas on her Mom’s.

David Connelly made the honors list at South Central College. The friendly, outgoing lad impressed his mother, who said, with raised eyebrows “He did very good.” Awesome work, Dave!

Does anyone make New Year’s resolutions any more? Any you didn’t make before? Mine’s to finish what I start…and lose weight…again. Happy New Year, folks.
