Jeanette “Jeanie” Fries, age 80 of Belle Plaine died suddenly at her home on Friday, April 23, 2021. Funeral and memorial services for Jeanie and her husband Gilbert Fries, age 82, March 16, 2020, (no service was celebrated due to COVID), will be on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation will be at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine, MN. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate the services.

Jeanie was born on August 11, 1940 near Milaca, MN to Gerald and Marion (Gatzke) Long. She grew up in Milaca and attend schools there. She moved to St. Peter at a young age and later married Gilbert Fries on October 10, 1964 in St. Peter, MN. The couple lived in Belle Plaine their entire married life. She did some home cleaning in the metro area for a short time before working at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home where she worked for nearly 30 years. She later enjoyed volunteering at the Thrift Store in Belle Plaine and after it’s closier, she worked at the Treasures in Town Store in Le Sueur, MN. She enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling, especially trips to Branson, MO with Gilbert. She also enjoyed her time with family and especially with grandchildren.

Grandchildren, Nicole Spicer, Jeremy (Myra) Fries, Becca (Greg) Geis, Matt (Shalisha) Sandy, Kendra Fries, Bailey Fries (Chloe Franke), Casey Fries & McKenzie Fries and many nieces and nephews and dog, “Snickers”. Jeanie is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert on March 16, 2020 and brothers Gerald, Gary and Danny.
