Didn't Audie Cole come back into the picture when Erin Henderson got into trouble with the law so they needed to bring in another LB? Marvin "Gonna Make Lotsa Noise After I Tackle A Guy 15yds Downfield Guy" Mitchell (#55) didn't see too much action later on either. Or did he?
As far as Leslie Nielsen being let go. All we heard was how much the players loved playing for him and they never quit with him at the helm. Isn't that what you're looking for in a head coach? Should they have considered firing defensive coordinator Alan Williams instead? That being said, Leslie did bring Williams in so in essence blame can partially be put on the head coach for that move.
Speaking of the defense, a few stops on their side of the ball this season and we may have won this crappy NFC Norris division. Thus delaying the demise of the big inflatable toilet known as the Metrodome, albeit for at least one more week.

Dan Quinn (Seahawks Def. Coordinator) seems to be a hot name linked to many jobs, including the Vikings. I look for the Vikings to go with an offensive coach with the thought they can groom a QB, as it was said earlier, the common denominator with good teams is a good QB. Jay Gruden, offensive coordinator with the Bengals and Darrell Bevell have also been named as candidates. If the Bengals take an early exit from the playoffs I look for Gruden to get the job. I would rather have Bevell come back to town and bring Chilli (currently SENIOR offensive assistant in KC) in as his offensive coordinator. We all know how much of an offensive genius Chilli is, he and his kick butt offense. Plus, Bnag could recycle his old Halloween costume.

Welcome to Vikings country Mike Zimmer!!! Hard nosed, no non-sense type of guy. Even Deion Sanders tweeted praising the hire. Zimmer was his D-coordinator at Dallas under Parcells. They say he's got a good balance to where he's not real chummy with the players but they respect him. Been a while since we've had a guy like this. Looking forward to it. SKOL!

I would have much rather had an offensive minded coach - the last guy was a defensive specialist too. The front office is a joke. Now I see he wants Norv Turner as OC. Why stop there? Maybe we can bring in Jerry Burns too? Oh, and Mike Zimmer's brother Don Zimmer, let's bring in him too.
Fire Speilman.

I'm just looking forward to the press conferences. Maybe we'll see a bit of Uncle Burnsie in Don Zimmer. Effers.

It's all over the tweeter accounts and facepages - Zimmer the new Vikings Coach - yet the Vikings will not hold a press conference until Friday? Hmmm.

Wowser - lots of free agency moves by the Vikings. First and foremost, very interesting that Jared Allen, Kevin Williams, and the LB's (Desmond Bishop, Erin Henderson, and Marvin Mitchell) haven't got any suitors yet. Probably explains why the defense stunk.
Linval Joseph was a good move and it looks like the DL is pretty much set. The signing of The Captain (RRRrrrrrr!) was a nice move to bolster the defensive backfield. Interesting that the signing of Derek Fox has been under the radar. Hopefully it spells the end of AJ Jefferson - that was tough to watch.
Matt Cassel signs back up (yawn) and Jerome Homer Simpson too - should be interesting what Norm Turner can do with that. Finally, it's looking like the Vikings are lining themselves up for a LB with their first pick in the draft as it appears they are looking at what the top picks will be and are signing those position players as free agents so they can get the best LB in the draft. Look for them to build a strong defense this year and then work on the offense next year.

Big day today - draft day. Lots of predictions out there but here is what will happen. The Vikings will trade down to get more picks, trade up, or they will stay with #8. The other nugget will be the Vikes brass will be amazed the player was still there. Remember you heard this first on the Henderson website.
