Where were you during the Halloween Blizzard of 1991?
I remember being stubborn enough to drive into town for Halloween and getting stuck on Cty Rd 12. Not sure when the power went out - but it was sure creepy to see Main St. so dark.

Decided to drive home from Bloomington that day. Had a roommate navigate for me by sticking his head out the passenger window. Think it took us roughly three hours. Barely got up the hill on 169 just south of Belle Plaine. That was the most exciting part of the weekend actually. "Gotta go home on the weekends cuz I miss my mommy and there just might be a party I'll miss out on." Duh.

I recall walking out of night class at St. Ben's (St. Joe, MN) and found that a couple inches of snow had already fallen. Stopped off at a party on the way back to my house to wet my whistle. I really wasn't planning to celebrate Halloween but quickly changed my mind...everybody was kind of hyped up with Halloween and all the snow. I think we were all hoping for the elusive snow day to become a reality. After a quick stop a home to change into my Green Giant rain slicker and hard hat I spent the rest of the night at one of the fine establishments in St. Joe. I remember waking up in the morning and screaming "snow day" w/ my roomies. It seemed like a lot of fun at first and then we realized how much snow there was and nobody owned a shovel. It really was a pain in the ass to get between St. Joe and the SJU campus. That Saturday or Sunday the SJU basketball team played a squad from Brazil at SJU. The Brazilians had quite the adventure up I-94 on their team bus. As the story goes they helped push about a half dozen cars out of the ditch on the drive up to Collegeville. They must have thought we were crazy to live in Minnesota.
