Ah, yeah, sorry to have to call back, but I've one more question.

Do you guys think that the trip to London couldn't come at a better time? It will keep the team away from the negative attention and might also be a bonding experience to get away for awhile. Will this be the week we look back upon as having turned our season around when we're 7-4 and back in the hunt?

Thank you. I'll hang up and listen.

That's gonna be a long boring flight to London I tells ya. Worst thing we could've done was make the playoffs last year. Expectations rose and obviously it was just a fluke.
Ski U Mah go Gophers Floyd of Rosedale baby were comin!!!!!!

Ok, here we go again. Brace yourself, oh Brothers Nagel, for the big letdown. Good for the Gophers, who for the how manyeth time in how manyeth years beat up on a handful of Gopher Conference teams en route to a 4-0 pre-season. Persons like yourselves put heightened stock on the big "Floyd of Rosedale" game with the Iowas this weekend, ooh, big game. Might determine if the Gophers win two or three Big 10 games this fall. Name me two defensive starters for the Big U? Wow. And I suppose suddenly you're so emotionally invested that you'll be edge of seat, the very outcome of the Big 10 opener setting the mood for the rest of your weekend. Hey, they moved the game to a 2:30 start, that must mean it's a big game. Ski U Blah.

Don't get me wrong, I hope they win, but to pretend you're more emotionally invested in the Gophers is pish posh. The Vikings are your team, they are our team. A great season for the Gophers is 8-4, and if you're gonna settle for "just pretty darn good" as the top of the heap then you need look inward and find a little more from yourself, dig a little deeper. Do you get up every morning hoping to go 7-5 on the day? Or do you strive for something better, like Peyton Manning's 32-of-37 for 341 and 3tds? You shoot for for 10-of-18 for 92 and just one interception, I'll continue to get up every morning and try to make it a 32-for-37 day in every thing I do.

And when the Vikings right this ship and are beating down the Super Bowl door in a couple years I'll be there, never having left (although having slept through some third quarters), and you'll be watching the 7-5 Gophers play the 7-5 Fresno State Huskies in the Blue Bonnet Bowl.

Okay fine this is "Vikings Talk" after all. Right now I'm settling for 4-0 instead of 0-3 because I enjoy it when our team wins. Even games that were s'posed to win. Like that recent game between the Vikes and Browns. Oh wait Cleveland won never mind. I'll always watch because it's just as entertaining watching them blunder repeatedly as it is almost making the Super Bowl. It's man's version of Days Of Our Lives!!

One good thing about the Gophers is that they don't play at the same time as the Vikes. Thus allowing me to watch both of them. So when our beloved Vikes do make that run to the big game in a couple years I'll still be able to watch. Only cuz the Bluebonnet Bowl will have been played a month and a half earlier. A doy doy!

Do you think the Vikings will be able to watch the Gophers/Iowa game on Saturday while in London? I'll hang up and listen.

The FAN stated today that Favre's agent was quoted saying Bret's in the best shape of his life. He bikes 30 miles a day. Runs another 5 miles. Even said his arms resemble a blacksmith's. Don't know if I've ever seen a blacksmith's arm before. Don't know any blacksmiths for that matter.
Get that jet on it's way to Hattiesburg Zygi!!!!

Ok, I'm over it.

Look for the Steel guys of Pittsburgh to get off the schnide, whatever that may actually be. Right now, both teams are firmly planted on the schnide, but one of them HAS to get off. We can then crown the Vikings "Kings Of The Schnide." I think there's a couple 2-3 other teams that are winless, but tough petunias....we're taking this one by golly.

Fantasy Feetsball is not going too swell for team "Air Ditka" this year. Even after stealing Peyton Manning in the 5th round, the Air Ditka's are sitting at 1 win and two losses. That'll happen when you draft running backs who can't seem to tie their cleats without pulling a muscle, or gland, or inner organ of some sort. Circling the wagons. Backed into a corner. Wounded animal.

SKOLFACE!

Pondler stricken with general soreness in and around the rib area and may not start Sunday. Thinking back to the Browns game wasn't he decleated six times for loss? Bound to get a sharpened elbow to the midriff at some point when that happens during a game.

I wonder though. Maybe some teammates held him down with a sheet and beat him with soap wrapped in towels like in Full Metal Jacket. All to get Cassel a start. Hmmmmm?

Take a moment to Ponder this potential reality ... Cassel is no better, or worser. It's a train wreck, man.

Alright - enough bitter banter that's rooted in fantasy football. (OK - I find it entertaining.) Last week was a real eye opener. First off, again Camel hits the main problem again, special teams. Two weeks in a row they look terrible - fire the special teams coach now. The Browns were ready to roll over and die so they start rolling the dice in some high stakes gambling and they win.

The defense looks good some drives and absolutely horrible on others. Tough to read but Bishop played a few snaps and made his presence be known. How he isn't starting is a mystery. A.J. Jeffers needs to go - he couldn't cover Bnag (today's Bnag and not the slot receiver that tore up the Minnesota River conference). Markus Scherels (Rochester's finest) rarely plays DB and is forced into the game as a 3rd choice at DB and lights up the place. The Browns actually stop throwing his way. Not sure what the defensive coaches know about talent, which was real obvious last week.

The offensive line looks terrible - evident by Pounder having some ribs that are pounding, poor fella. Tough to know what is wrong there as last year they were pretty good and nothing has change and now they stink. The suspended FB, Felton comes back this Sunday and it will be interesting how that changes things, if at all besides one less friend to have a smoke with.

Play calling was the usual. If the QB is under center, run. When behind, pass on first down and run second down. Towards the end of the game, the bubble screen to Simpson when in a three wide works great. Why there isn't more of that, especially with Colatteral Patterson is another play calling mystery. Fire Bob Schnelker.

The pick: tough week last week as the winnings from the first two weeks went up in smoke via special teams play. Earlier this week, the spread was about 1/2 point to pick 'em to now anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3. Tom Brady is saying his old buddy Matthew Howard Cassel will be starting, which is probably true when looking at the spread. Two teams with their backs against the wall, something has to give and it's going to be the Vikings DB's. Put your money on the Steelers favored by 3. Plus when you pair Big Ben with Big Ben, you can't fight fate. Put another shrimp on the barbie! (I always love that one - must be lots of shrimp in England.)
