Kluwe's stats have been falling off the last few years.
also
Kluwe needs to realize that just because you have an opinion about various issues, doesn't mean you need to spout off publicly about ever one of them. He just wasn't very good at giving the other team the ball anymore. That, plus coming off a knee injury, and making over 1 mill per year to give the other team the ball spelled his doom. The way I look at it, punting the ball is giving up. "We don't want the ball anymore. We are willing to give the ball to the other team." Quitter mentality. Punting should be abolished. But if you must give up, might as well do it for under 1 million a year.

Kluwe didn't have a great season so I don't think he was let go for his opinions. But it probably didn't help his cause.
Athletes have a long history of using their celebrity to address civil rights issues. People told everyone from Jackie Robinson to Muhammad Ali to Danica Patrick to high school girls wanting to play 'boys' sports were told to keep their opinions to themselves many times. Fortunately, they didn't.

http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_23396464/minnesota-vikings-bring-jeff-george-guest-coach.Jeff George in camp helping coach the QB's. I'm kind of hoping it's a disguised tryout. (If Chili was still coaching I could see him pulling off such a ruse.) Jeff George would be better than some of the backups they have. Heck, he might even be better than Ponder, just saying............
