Big week - Packer week. Hard hitting game in Chicago this past Sunday as Rudy and Harry Smith were both concussed and without them the score might be 41 - 3 versus 38 - 17. Jared Allen will probably play after his viscous hit on the Chicago guard - some have been calling for a suspension. For me, the hit was very similar to those you see on kickoffs and punts, a decleater. I don't think Jared thought the guy would blow out a knee with a shoulder block to the sternum.
One of the Vikings' common taters is voicing his opinion that the team can wait only so long on Pounder to come around. It will be interesting during Sunday's blow out if Joe Webb will make an appearance.

I was just thankful the Vikings had a bye week to prepare or this one would've been a lot lot worser. I applaud that they came out on their first possession and went with five wide and an empty backfield and allowed Pounder to get pounded for a 9-yard loss. The Bears were clearly caught off guard, expecting the Vikings to go to their strength - that being Adrian Peterson. And I loved the running play that set up the 3rd-and-16 on the first possession. And I am having trouble deciding which of Jerome Sampson's 12 catches is my favorite. And let's not forget the defenses ability to get off the field on third down.
And the Irony. Bears lose big on National TV and their QB gets sacked 12 times then the Vikings show up and give them fits. Now we go to Green Bay, who just got embarrassed on National TV and had their QB sacked eight times. And this week we don't have a bye week to get ourselves fully prepared.
Fire Childress.

I think I've figured 'em out. Every time I think they have a shot at stealing a game, they go out and flop around like a perch on a hot sidewalk. So...I'm telling myself this week that they are going to get slaughtered, that Jared Allen won't even get NEAR Rodgers. That Peterson will run for 62 yards and fumble twice. And as soon as I'm done convincing myself what's to happen, KABLAMMO! They shock us and pull out a victory.
It's like reverse osmosis or something like that.
So if you talk to Sue this week and she warns you that the Pack are going to demolish the Vikes, just nod and agree.
Man, are they gonna get trounced or what? woohoo, huge trouncin'

Hopefully Coach Leslie Nielsen has already gone over all the film that he needs to go over in order to correct those things that need correcting in time for the Packers game Sunday. Because a coach can never have enough film to go over. I mean if someone is attempting to correct certain things what better way to correct them then to watch film. Right? Coach Nielsen is really good at watching film. Sound familiar?
"And now here's another great moment in a Vikings......kick ass offense."
~Ponder rolls to the right, eludes Julius Peppers, scrambles back to the middle of the field and...dumps it out of bounds.

Don't know if y'all heard or not, but Christian Ponder is getting married. At present there are no plans for a reception.

In honor of former Viking and now former KFAN morning show character Mike "Superstar" Morris . Click on his name to read about a little mishap he had way back in 1997. A good read.

Well the Vikings playoff candle still flickers. Too bad the Skins and Boys both won though. Gonna be a tough road ahead with road games at the Rams and Texans then hosting the Pack.
Ponder had another stellar day with 91yds passing. But like Leslie said, he executed the game plan put in place. I could turn around and hand off to AP 31 times too I guess. After the opening drive the offense didn't do anything. AP had over 100yds in the 1st quarter then another 40 or so the rest of the game. Thanks goes to the defense for the two big interception returns. Some big dropped balls be the Bears WR's aided the cause as well.
The Rams in St. Louis will be tough as they're in the hunt for a playoff spot as well at 6-6-1. They've beaten and tied the 49ers this year.

I thought it was fitting win - Bears style with hardly any offense and some lucky defense. It was impressive to see the offensive line and AP beat the bears, the other five guys really didn't matter. What did Leslie say in his post game? - all three areas, offense, defense, and special teams played at a high level. (What game was he watching?)
Hopefully at season's end there are some wholesale coaching changes on the offensive side of the ball. The play action pass isn't there and should be when AP is in there. When the play action pass is run, the fake is about 3 yards off, which makes it not a fake. Everyone can follow the ball. At times the pass rush seems over whelming on Ponder but yet no little screens are fancy draw plays. Or better yet, how about a the flea flicker. Where was Rudolph in the passing game? The guy has some good hands but yet was a target maybe once.
It doesn't look like Ponder will be an elite QB but the coaching is some of the worst in the NFL. The QB coach and Peter Musgraves must go. Fire one or both of them right now, like the Ravens did today. Fire Musgraves.

Without question there are those of you out there that think Pondler's underthrow of a wide open guy before halftime was Bob Schnelker's fault. It ain't Bob Schnelker's fault that you can't name the Viking's effin wide receivers other than by number (17, 19 and 84). And it ain't Bob Schnekler's fault that the effin quarterback's throw to a wide open receiver hit an effin speaker hanging from the Metrojoke's roof before falling well short of it's target. And yet when they put effin Schnelker's face on the effin big screen you effers boo him. THAT AIN'T BOB SCHNELKER'S FAULT!!

I love Alfred Anderson too and it wasn't Bob Schnelker's fault the ball bounced off the WR shoulder pads in the end zone.
Seriously, just one Peyton Manning like play action pass a quarter is that too much to ask? Pounder has like 7 degrees from 4 years of college so it isn't like the kid is too dumb to learn it so I'm thinking it isn't in the playbook, which if it was, it would probably increase the playbook by 10%. Fire Brent Mussberger.
