2012 November 11 St. Thomas News
Father James Burns will celebrate Mass at the St. Thomas Church on Sunday, December 23rd at 9 am, on Tuesday, the 25th, on Christmas Day at 9 am, also on Saturday, the 29th, at 4 pm and Sunday, January 27th at 9 am.
Father Roger celebrated his last mass of this season in St. Thomas last Saturday, Mary Reibel Schwartz played the organ, Marie Retka directed the choir, Will and Marvin Halloran served, Jim Oak was the lector. Deb O’Connell and Jim Walker were Eucharist ministers. It was close to 70 degrees…a lovely evening for Father’s send off.
Ed Halloran needs our prayers.
Vangie Burns also needs a few prayers this week. She took a ride in the helicopter Monday evening from Le Sueur to Abbott Hospital…She was doing better when her family left that evening.
Remembering our military currently serving this Veterans Day: Paul Schwartz in the Marines, John Callahan is also serving in the Marines, Alex Castle is in the Army National Guards, Cody Castle Army National Guards, and Joe May is in the Navy all hail from the Le Sueur side of St. Thomas.
Rachael O’ Connell, St. Thomas’s own travelling foreign student, spent the weekend in Prague, Czechoslovakia. She found dumplings, but no kolacky.
‎Voter turnout was great throughout our community… with a 96% voter turnout in Tyrone Township. Way to go!
Jim and Marcia Sullivan enjoyed the band, “Ross Kleiner and the Thrill” at the Henderson Roadhaus Friday night.
Members of the Charles and Madeline Wolff family gathered for Christmas was this past Saturday evening at Uncle Elbert's in Eagle Lake, 45 family members were present… 29 absent. Nine out of the ten siblings made it.

The St. Thomas Sportsmen are planning a Brewery tour, tentatively scheduled for the 3rd weekend in January.
The KCHK Member Appreciation Dance Party was Sunday. So many great folks! The fabulous Dale Pexa Band entertained. Jean Rybak, Anna Mae Shaughnessy, Brandon and Garin O’Connell had a great time. Greetings to Times readers, Mary Dwyer, her brother Joe, and his lovely wife, Emma Jean Tikalsky. Emma Jean is a cousin of Mary Kay Halloran, and her Sullivan siblings, first cousin! Small world.
Congratulations, Jason Retka! The pickle Jar is empty.
From the Archives: “Helen Sullivan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Sullivan of St. Thomas, became the bride of Norbert Schumacher. Father Abbott, a cousin of the bride, officiated at the ceremony in St. Thomas Church.” BPHNov 7,1922
Also from the Archives: “St. Thomas Church took place the marriage of Miss Frances O’Neill and Cornelius M. Ronayne, the ceremony being performed by the pastor, Father Dobbin. After a wedding t rip to Duluth, the couple took up farming in St. Thomas. BPHNov 7, 1922
