You forgot Spergon Wynn, III - come on now! It was 2001 and Denny got fired and Tice took over. The Vikings closed out the season at Baltimore which had Elvis at QB and Terry Allen and Moe Williams at running backs and Qaudry Ismail (hands of stone) at WR, which was odd to see. (Hey Moe -I try to think and nothing happens!) From there Da Third went on to Canada to play but at least he can say he was on the field that day with Chris Carter, Randy Moss, Matt Birk, Shannon Sharpe, Johnathan Ogden, Ron Woodson and Ray Lewis - who will all probably be in the HOF.
Spergon Wynn, III doesn't quite have the ring as Thurston Howell, III - but it's close. Hard to believe you would name three generations Spergon but don't worry, #4 is out there now too.
Spergon will go down in history as the QB selected right before Tom Brady in 2000 draft.

Soon you will add Sage Rosenfeldt to the list. The Vikings just claimed him off waivers to take McNabb's roster spot.
McNabb will play in the playoffs this year according to my sources, for either the Bears or the Texans.

McNugget goes unclaimed and I find that kind of funny. Bernard and McNugget are probably kickin' it in Vegas because each one is still being paid by the Queens since no one claimed either of them. Hard to believe they would get contracts paying them like millionaires at the beginning of the season and now no one wants them. OK - not that hard to believe. It would follow that someone's head will roll from the player personnel department at Winter Park.

These last two weekends will be HUGE for Viking fans. Indy has a win and if they can pull one more out it could put the Vikings in line for number one pick. Which could be a problem, do they pick a QB or is Pounder the answer? With poor offensive line play it is hard to tell how good the Pounder is.
Offensive line talk leads us into draft talk. Some school of thought is the Vikings should pick a left tackle with a top 3 pick. Big Al is beating that drum pointing out how high the left tackle is paid. Others point out if a game changer is available - Randy Moss or AP type - the Vikings should go that route. The more I see of them I think they should trade down and get more picks because there are lots of spots to upgrade.
The head coach position will also be interesting. I have no doubt Frazier is a great guy, blah blah blah, but I think Childress was better head coach. Heck, I think Denny was a better head coach. Watching the defense ROUTINELY not cover the wideout coming out of the huddle was a real head scratcher, Jr. High like. One would think if the head coach is a defensive guy that the defensive side of the ball should at least know how to line up and that's not happening. Couple that with bad challenges and bad play calling it leads people to question the coach's skill. Or it could be they are throwing the games to get a good pick - pure genius.
As you enjoy the holidays keep in mind we are watching history unfold before our eyes - this could be the worst Vikings record ever. Who would have thought one could do worse than Stes Leckel? Frazier, like Rudolph, will go down in history.

I always love Norton's take. Yes, history is being made. I find it equally entertaining and less stressful (not Les Steckel) in watching the Vikings failures.
I love this week how some defensive players were upset by the coverages called by the coaches, so they started to ignore them. And that helped do what? Brees still passed 32 of 42 for 400+ yards and 5 scores. What does that say about these guys who were calling their own defenses?
I, too, get sick of the same "we know what we have to work on" routine from the coach. If you know, then work on it, and some improvement should be evident at some point.
It's amazing that these two teams lined up less than two years ago and played an ultra competitive NFC Championship game, and now they are worlds apart. Says a lot about the Vikings organization. I read in the paper last week that Ponder's goal is to be better than Brees one day. At least we got that going for us.

I agree with the previous two takes regarding Leslie Nielsen. Mentioned to Camel last night that during a weekly radio show this week Paul Allen was interviewing Coach Nielsen as he does every week. Same old lah ti fricken dah bullcrap that we've heard since the start of this dismal season.
"Well I really think if we focus and dig down as a team we can fix this. Some of the things that we haven't been doing well as a team we need to focus and do them better. A couple things that we've done okay at we shouldn't have to focus as much on. But I think focusing is key to having a successful season. Whether you're striving to do the things you've done well all season, or attempting to make better those things that you as an individual, or we as a team, have done just alright here and there almost all of the time. I think that's the key and we should focus on that going into this week's game at Washington."
It's enough to drive a person insane. SAY SOMETHING!!

Colts Win! Colts Win! It just might happen now. Skeddy, in his Vikings garb with Mavericks Hockey Helmet on, down at the draft party, yelling "WE'RE NUMBER 1" into the ESPN camera right before the Vikings trade the first overall pick for more picks. After the trade is announced the camera pans back to Skeddy only to see............
