Despite a rocky start in Union Hill yesterday, the Octopus Bar came from behind to soundly defeat the Minneapolis Bombers by a 9 to 2 score. Mike Feeney improves to 2-0 in state tourney action on the mound with another solid outing. Mike Barron earns MVP honors with three hits and some stellar plays in left field.

What does all this mean you ask? Well, it all comes down to one final game. Today at 5pm in Jordan the Over-35 Class C Championship takes place pitting the big red machine versus either the Faribault Flames or the Belle Blaine Grey Tigers.

Let's go Octopus!

Just 8 days after the intial introductions the Octopus Bar's two weekend journey concluded with an 11-0 victory over the Belle Plaine Gray Tigers in the Over-35 Class C championship game. The O'Bar plated one in the first on a walk and an error, then put the game well out out of reach with an eight spot in the second on six or seven hits, the highlights being a bases clearing double from Tony "Skeddy" Nagel and a three-run homer for Bryce Eggert. Two more runs before the fifth ended this thing 11-0 in 4.5 innings, and after some handshakes and some photos the O'Bar took off in all directions, looking to move on with their lives after two weekends of baseball. Each member of the O'Bar had at least one hit in the tournament, three different pitchers shared the four pitching victories, and every player had the opportunity to catch a ball or two in the field, a complete team effort one might say. The O'Bar outscored its foes 47-5 in its four games.
