Hi everyone,

I didn't see any place for general introductions, so I hope that it's okay to post this here, since my connection to the area is through my family over 100 years ago.

I did register in 2008, but never got back to this site until now blush I was wondering if anyone is a member of the Weir (Wyer) or Finnegan families, or knows something about them. James Weir (son of Michael and Mary) and Elizabeth Jane Finnegan (daughter of Luke and Mary) were my great-great-grandparents; they moved from the Jessenland area to Minneapolis in the first decade of the 1900s.

Some of the Trimbos are descended from James's sister, Mary. I've noticed a few of those cousins posting here!

I visited Sibley County for the first (and so far only) time in May 2008. I went to the courthouse in Gaylord, and St. Thomas Cemetery. It really is a beautiful place!

As far as I can think of, I unfortunately don't have any family legends, anecdotes, or artifacts to share, but I do have a fair amount of data smile

My great grandfather, Jake Trimbo was married to a Weir I believe, but I don't know too much about them. My grandfather, Mike Trimbo, was known as Irish Mike. the Trimbo's were generally German, but Mike was 1/2 Irish from his mother who was Weirs. don't know much about the Weirs branch but am very interested.

This sure sounds like Mary Weir/Wyer (1853-1937, daughter of Michael and Mary) who married Jacob Trimbo (1845-1894, son of Jacob and Helen), and their son Michael Trimbo (1871-1929)! I saw the graves of the elder Wyers and Trimbos, and of "Irish Mike" and his wife, at St. Thomas Cemetery.

My dad said that he doesn't recall hearing anything about your family...I guess we lost contact a few generations ago.

Mike had a sister Mae, who married Frank Doheny, also buried in Jessenland. Mike married Frank's sister Celia Doheny.

Would this be the same Trimbo family that I'm related to? As in the Thomas Trimbo and Ruth Trimbo family? I'd love to hear more about my relatives some day. Thanks

I don't know of a Thomas and Ruth Trimbo. Do you know who their parents are?

Ruth Guertin Trimbo was married to Marvin Michael Trimbo. Their son was Thomas Trimbo who was my father. Both are passed away. Ruth died 2 years ago at age 89 and Tom died in 1983 at age 42.

Apparently Marvin Michael's father was Michael Trimbo--brother of the Jacob who married Mary Weir. So while I'm not related to you, Mr. Graham is!

Haha...no, I'm not related to them because I'm not descended from the Trimbos, only the Weirs.
