Father Dave enjoyed his spring vacation. He spent from February 22nd thru the 26th at a Conference for priests in Washington DC. The conference was on wellness dealing the spiritual, physical and emotional aspects of a life in ministry. He traveled to Frederick, Maryland to see the Civil War Medical museum. He traveled to Harper’s Ferry in West Virginia in order to see the historic town inside a National Park. Harper’s Ferry was home to a famous pre-Civil War protest by John Brown and a major Civil War battle. He even attended mass in the Civil War style Church of St. Peter in Harper’s Ferry. Father had a nice visit at the Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, Virginia, where a community of Cistercian monks live. The trip rounded out by seeing the National Gallery of Art in DC especially enjoying sculptures from all periods...and we're glad he's back.

Jeff and Meghan Burns Boelter are the proud parents of Evelyn Muriel, born on March 14 at 5:03 pm at North Memorial. The wee-lass weighs 8 pounds 10 ounces, and is 20 ½ inches long. Little Evie is the first grandchild for both Ron and Carolyn Burns and Gordy and Laura Boelter. Who does she look like? “Well, Mom thinks she looks like us kids...but then she's never seen the Boelters as babies.” says Uncle Sam. Grandpa Ron says, “She's the cutest baby in the country.” ...O-o-h, she won't be spoiled.
Thomas and Kathleen Manning Halloran's three kiddos have birthdays are within 15 days of each other. Nolan was 6th on March 1, Tori was 3 on Feb 14th and Camden was 1 on the 13th of February. Jimmy and Mary Jean joined the gathering of the Manning and Halloran families and Judy Glisczinski at their home in Minnetrista to celebrate all three birthdays on Sunday the 8th.

It was a wonderful St. Patrick's Day celebration in Le Center on Saturday. The weather was grand. Mulligan Stew was great. Tom and Max's granddaughter, Erin Holden was crowned the 2010 Miss Shamrock, our home-grown Emily O'Connell is Miss Leprechaun, and she also won the Greg O'Connell Award. Emily's proud dad let her mom spray his hair green. St. Thomas showed up in droves and ... it sure was a wonderful day.

The Thornton Clan, featuring Tom and Rita Thornton, were honored at a St. Patrick's Day Breakfast at the Montgomery Legion Club on Sunday. This gathering was sponsored by the Arts and Heritage Committee. What do the Thorntons have to do with St. Thomas ? Plenty! Tom's grandparents, John (1816-1906) and Ann Moran Thornton (1821-1906) are laid to rest here in St. Thomas. Tom's uncles Hugh (1858-1916), and Nick Thornton (1857-1906), and aunts Catherine Lyons (1843-1912) and Sarah Ann O'Connell (1864-1941), plus Tom's folks, Mike (1862-1947) and Mary Malinski (1895-1981) Thornton are resting peacefully here, as well. Tom and Rita will eventually be joining them here...but not to soon.

Snow's gone, river's up...and we are sneak peekin' at spring,.

Have a great week, folks.

Just a little correction about Jeff and Megan's baby girl. She's not Gordy and Laura's first grandchild. That honor goes to Wyatt son of Jason and Susan. However she is their first granddaughter. And she's quite the little beauty!
