Ok, seemingly the Vikings first round pick in the 2011 National Football League draft hasn't really sparked anybody's interest, so I'll be the first to ask -

What is a Christian Pondler? And is this a good pick? What did the experts say? Did they laugh out loud? Does he have a good motor? How many gears does he have? Does he have an extra gear then, too? How did his character grade out? What was his time in the shuttle race? The shuttle race is a very underrated evaluation, especially for a QB in the Vikings system as they need to be able to go side to side in a collapsing pocket very quickly. How did he fare on the chin-up bar?

A report leaked out that he did make the 80th percentile in the Presidential Physical Fitness program when he was in the 5th grade at Windy Sands Elementary in Jacksonville. You'd think a person could IHOP that and see how many chin ups he did and if in fact he climbed the rope in under 15 seconds. Otherwise a pretty vague report in my opinion. Maybe there's more dirt on him than they want us to know.

I believe the Vikes 2nd pick is also on this list at #31 in Kyle Rudolph, TE from Notre Dame. I hope this Prisco guy is right. We need a little pick me up with the MN sports scene.

If you look closely, this is Tommy receiving a "Western Onion Singing Telegram", which is why there is a stuffed monkey in his lap, a woman in a costume and noisemakers, etc. It doesn't mean he is out of control.

I'm going to have to get a haircut to see what Dicky has to say about Donavan McNugget coming to the Vikes. Jeepers - another retread. I say play the kid and forget about antique QB's.

Sources tell me the Viking will win 4 or 5 games, maybe 6 if McNugget pulls one out of the hat.

Other items of interest: 12 million to Longwell was really stupid because a bad team doesn't need a good kicker. That money would have been better spent locking up AP. The McKinnie cut was more to do with weight because the NFL has rules about height, weight, and bone density and McKinnie was a long ways from it. McNugget was signed because the head coach doesn't know a lot about offense and the offensive coordinator doesn't have track record. Who? Bob Schnelker? WE'VE been SCHNELKERED! McNugget has a better than average arm and he is a very tough Chicago kid which is what is needed with the poor offensive line. The ex-Bear center should be signed, which would make more sense than giving Longwell 12 million. (The Longwell contract was really a sore spot with my sources.) Look for Pat Williams to sign with the Vikes for the minimum and used in run situations only. It will be a 2 to 3 year rebuilding project before the Vikings are towards the top of the division. Thankfully the stadium was not discussed!

On a side note - a new haircut feels good on a warm day. whistle

Vegas has set the number at 6.5. I will be an optimist and say seven wins. While the schedule is the 12th toughest on paper I count seven. Don't ask me which seven. It's refreshing going into a Vikings season without the pressure and/or anticipation that comes with cheering for a team that will compete, but is destined to $hi+ the bed at some point. I would've frowned on the McNabbSandwich signing three years ago, but am OK with it now. I'm hopeful Ferguson Jenkins has some worth, don't know much about him other than he played for Atlanta. Was glad to hear we rid ourselves of Madeu Williams and that we might play without safeties this year. Only thing I'll miss there is when one of our safeties is seen in the bottom corner of the TV screen diving at a passing ballcarrier. I am also in the camp that you trade AP for a boatload and build for the future. If you pitch a fiddy cent piece into a pile of $hi+, it's still just a fiddy cent piece all full of $hi+.

The Queens were actually watchable last game. McNugget might be the answer this season to push the record to 8 & 8. Erin Henderson doesn't look like a starting LB to me. One thing about having a bad team, when good teams cut players it is a good opportunity for the vikings to improve their roster. Garret Mills comes to mind.
