City of Henderson

Snow Removal Policy

Streets
A.  HOW PLOWED
Streets are plowed from the center to the right lanes first.  When 4” or more accumulates in parking lanes, snow is plowed from the right parking lanes to the boulevard.
Alleys are plowed from the center to the right.
Main Street and Highway 93 are plowed and loaded per Mn/DOT policy.
The purpose of the plowing is to remove snow from streets and alleys as quickly, safely and economically as possible allowing residents to use City of Henderson thoroughfares as expediently and safely as possible.

B.  PRIORITIES
Hills are plowed first-Church Hill, West Ridge Boulevard, Ridge Road and North 8th Street are the highest priorities.  Other sections of town are opened alternately after each respective snow plowing.  Plowing is done anytime there is a snowfall of 2” or more.  Sanding is done when and where needed.  Any cars parked along side streets are encouraged to be moved.  If vehicles are not moved after 24 hours the police chief discusses the matter with the vehicle owner and it is either immediately moved or towed.

C. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
ALL CITY RESIDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Shovel all sidewalks within 12 hours of completion of each snowfall.
  2. Car owners having cars not being used and parked on any street should move vehicles onto their own property in order to facilitate a more thorough job of removing snow.
