Everyone is invited to attend the Henderson Community Foundation Kick-off this Sat., October 20, at the Roadhaus Event Center. There will be free bingo from 1-3pm followed by musical entertainment from 3-7. The Roadhaus will have a pizza buffet available with drink specials and trivia in the bar.

The purpose of this event is to inform the public about the newly formed Henderson Community Foundation. This group was formed as a result of some individuals wanting to donate towards the future of Henderson with no real place for them to donate to. Together with the Southern Minnesota Initiative Fund(SEMIF)the local foundation was formed. The local foundation will be the vehicle to accept these donated funds and SEMIF will invest them. The annual interest gained will come back to the foundation to be used for designated community projects. Basically, it will be a perpetual fund that will provide additional resources for local charities and organizations.

The purpose of the event on Saturday is NOT to solicit funds. The purpose is to inform the public about the foundation and to find out what you feel are community needs that should be addressed when the fund is generating dollars to be used locally. My explanation as to how the foundation works is very brief and I hope that the public will come out and ask questions about how this works and how it cas assist the future of Henderson. Just a reminder of the Henderson Community Foundation get together on Sat. There will be FREE bingo from 1-3pm with Henderson Chamber dollars awarded to the winners. From 3-5, musical entertainment will be provided by Lorrie Streeter. A pizza buffet will follow along with a trivia contest concluding around 7pm. There is a charge for the pizza buffet, but everything else is free. Stop in at the Roadhaus Event Center, meet the foundation board, give us your suggestions for projects, and have some fun! Remember this is a free event and there will be no solicitations for funds or donations. See you Saturday!
