Tami Klenke was a guest at a lovely Bridal Shower given in her honor and hosted by the future groom’s aunts, Laurie, Joyce and Sonya Swenson at the Golf Course in Belle Plaine on Sunday. Tami will become the bride of Jon Burns on November 16th, in Red Wing.
Stephie Koller was the guest of honor at a Baby Girl Shower on Sunday afternoon at their home, in Belle Plaine. After all that pink girlie stuff, wouldn’t it be a shocker for Papa Mitch, if the tests were wrong and they had a boy? …a Baby Boy Shower would not be out of order.
Barney, Jean, and Jon Burns, and Tami Klenke hosted a gathering at the Burns homeplace where Jon and Tami have made their home. Kids and grandkids, giggling, laughing. playing … A warm, cozy fire in the furnace, slow cookers warming for supper… and soft Classic Country music. What else could make it better? Yeah, we had that, too.
First Timers at the Eyeball last Wednesday were Ron Callahan, and Ron Regan and his wife Brooke… Well, it’s about time! Both Rons, well known and well liked… good looks, charm, great stories… roots that grow very deep in this neck-o-the woods… no need to say more, but DANG! I missed it last Wednesday.
From the Archives: “At St. Mary’s Church, Le Center took place the marriage of Miss Mabel Shea of this parish to Urban Hessian of Belle Plaine. Misses Agnes Shea and Marcella Hessian, Emmett Hessian and Richard O’Connell were the attendants.” BPH September1922 This writer’s link to Father Hessian… Mabel is a first cousin of Alice Halloran Burns.
From the Archives: “The Lexington parish in Le Sueur County celebrated its 50th anniversary with special services. Archbishop John Gregory Murray presided at the mass and delivered the sermon.” September 1952. This is the church that was moved to Pioneer Power.
Also, Bob Fogarty was crowned Belle Plaine Homecoming King of 1982…Bob is one generation from St. Thomas.
Happy Anniversary, to Kevin and Cari Landwer, who were married here in St. Thomas, October 8, 2004. Fireworks lit up the heavens after their evening mass…couldn’t do that this dry year.
