The Legends have been seeded #3 for the A-AA Senior Men's State Amateur Baseball Tournament. Games will be held in Jordan, Union Hill, Veseli, and Lonsdale.

First game will be this Saturday vs. the #13 seed Menahga-Sebeka Relics of the Northwest Minnesota League. The Relics finished 2nd in their division with an 11-4 record. Site and time yet to be determined on the first game as the brackets will be finalized Tuesday evening.

If those brackets were directions I'd be lost. wtf? Some old man must've drawn that up. This is further evidence that eventually you reach a point that you gotta stop chasing balls.

Do the results of your state tournament games count against your overall record?

No. Only state tournament record. Kinda like when the Octopus Bar went 0-0 during the 2010 season but then went 4-0 in the state tournament to claim the Class C Championship. Quite the cinderella story I hear.

It was a tough first weekend for the Legends as they were shutout Saturday 3-0 by Menahga-Sebeka in Jordan and lost a marathon to the Jordan Millers in Union Hill today 6-1 in 11 innings.

Solid pitching and defense wasn't enough as LSH could only plate one runner in 18 innings of ball. That's not gonna cut it at the state tourney.

Legends will next play this Friday, Aug. 24th in Lonsdale against the loser of Eden Prairie Lion's Tap and Perham. Time to be determined.

Correction the Legends will play at 7pm this Fri., Aug. 24th at Veseli. Not Lonsdale as previously stated. Opponent will be Eden Prairie Lion's Tap.

Seven. That is the number of hits the Legends amassed in 18 innings of offense over two days. One of the most bizarre things I've ever seen. And it got worse as Sunday's game went on. LSH might've never scored had Jordan not scored in the 11th, they might still be playing. It brought new meaning to the words frustrating, pathetic, disappointing, disgusting and embarrassing. Thank fully these games don't count for the Legends.

The Legends are back in action tonight, when they try to break out of a historic team-wide slump that started last weekend, when the team took the league lead in high pop-ups and weak grounders, amassing seven total hits in 18-innings to the bat. The Legends were one of only four teams to finish the first weekend of the state tournament with zero wins against 2 losses (eight total if you include the Class "C" bracket). But there's no quit in this bunch, as they will bravely take to the diamond again tonight to battle the Eden Prairie Lion's Tap in the semi-finals of the Class A wrestlebacks. The Legends pounded their way to a 2-0 win over the Lion's Tap earlier this season, and fans should expect another offensive display by both teams this evening. First pitch at the Veseli diamond in Veseli is scheduled for 7 p.m. Skeddy and Camel currently pencilled in as the keystone combination in the middle of the Legend's infield as they make another attempt at becoming the shortest double-play combination in the history of the sport.

"Who left the hat out near second base?" is likely to be heard from the stands.

It's gonna be a scorcher out there tonight. I better bring my water jug that says "water" on it.

In honor of the beloved Vikings and their epic 3rd pre-season battle with the Super Chargers tonight, I will once again be hanging my Vikings beach towel in the dugout. This has been a tradition since the beginning of last year's old man ball season.
