We cannot contain our excitement over the expansion of the MNCS charter to include a new K-5 school here in Henderson! As newer members of this community, we remember quite clearly the conversations that we had in assessing whether or not we would like to call Henderson our home. We first visited during a rainy Heritage Days weekend and loved the quaint Main Street, the friendliness of the people out and about, and the general happiness not dampened by the drizzle. In another visit before our final decision to move in, we were walking around the neighborhoods and a young girl pedaled by on her bike with an ice cream cone from the local shop, followed by a boy on his bike with a fishing pole in his hand. We smiled and agreed, this was the place we wanted to raise our family! We have joined the community efforts to create a new, exciting, excellent elementary school for the future ice-cream-loving and fishing-pole-touting friends of our kids. We are THRILLED with the partnership between MNCS and the community and the adventure that is beginning here! The award-winning track record and foundation built at MNCS has been affirmed by the MN Dept. of Education as well as other national settings, and the vision of a student-centered, personalized, responsive, innovative, and just plain fun elementary school has begun to take shape! I wish my oldest was ready for Kindergarten, because I would love for him to be a part of this great school right now! As we wait out the next two years of preschool, we urge our neighbors and friends to enroll your kids! This is going to be a great year!
