As Sauerkraut Days are quickly approaching, the Kraut Krew is extremely busy with last minute details. People are always approaching Krew members saying,"you should do this or you should do that for Kraut Days". The fact of the matter is we certainly would like more activities but they take a lot of planning and, most of all, people, to do additional events. The 20 or so members of the Kraut Krew are spread very thin in accomplishing the activities of the celebration. Planning for the next celebration starts about a month after Kraut Days are over and meetings go on through out the year. Even though putting on a 3 day celebration is a lot of work, the Kraut Krew does it because it is rewarding, it's fun, and most of all because we love this town and we are very proud to carry on this unique tradition of Sauerkraut Days.
As co-chair of Kraut Days, I am asking people in the community that have the same feelings about Henderson and Sauerkraut Days to lend us an hour or two of your time to assist the Kraut Krew. We need help in the beer stand. If you are not comfortable selling beer and pop, we can use you in the kraut stand. If you don't like serving and making change, Dan and Lisa Reiman need help cooking the sauerkraut. Amy Hardel needs help with the parade lineup. Almost every event during the 3 days can use assistance. If nothing else, consider being a participant in the Owl Parade just for the fun of it!
Jeff Steinborn has the master schedule for the kraut and beer stand. If you want to help at something else, contact me or any member of the Kraut Krew. The 2012 theme for our celebration is "For the Love of Kraut!" Please consider giving us a hand, not only for the love of kraut. but for the love of Henderson and Sauerkraut Days! Thank-you!
PS. Pray for beautiful Kraut Days weather!
