Butters is a heck of a catcher, so we don't lose anything there. Mornozie, yeah, that stinks, but he's batting .221. Now, everyone is in line to make fun of Mauerzie because he was gimpy last night, but he's been the Mauerzie of old this early season, swattin' balls all about the park and providing the leadership that this team so sorely missed last year. We can agree that he could get a couple more hits with runners on scoring bases, but to rip on him because he got hit with a ball is a little premature, especially from someone who pulled a hamstring reaching down to pick up a ball last summer. Mauerzie was perfectly rippable last year when his legs were weak, but he's showed up to play this year, cut out the $e* on days before games and the weak legs are a thing of the past.

He is perfectly rippable since the hamstring I pulled last year (4 times) earned quite a bit less $$$ than a hamstring of Joe Mauer's type. Once you start paying me to be in non-hamstring pullable shape then I'll reconsider my statement. My job doesn't care how flexible my hamstrings are. Damn I wish they would though!! I might bring that up in my next review.

You may have heard Joe's comment regarding the cabin pressure affecting his knee on the flight to CA for the Angels series. Definitely something every tough, gutty athlete such as Joe Mauer should be concerned about.

Mauerzie isn't the first to complain of cabin pressure affecting his knee. There is a long list of professional athletes that struggle with cabin pressure on sore and tired bodies. Jeepers, these guys play 162 games in the heat, the sleet, the wind and rain and they give 150 percent night in and night out. And it's not their fault that they make $20 million doing it, they are not writing themselves checks out of their own payroll checkbook. Someone has to pay them. Jeepers, he almost died last year because he got so thin from that cold and couldn't maintain his strenghth because of his leg weakness and all you can do is make fun of his hamstrings, his salary and his discomfort in the airplane. The seats in the airplane are made for people who are 5'7", not 6'5" like Mauerzie is. I can't imagine how hard it must be, city after city, plane after plane, game after game. I don't know if I could do it.

I would put down $45 cash and $7 per beer to sit in the front row at your work and watch you pull a hamstring pushing your rolling office chair away from your desk when the phone rings, or going to the office supplies cabinet for some post-its, or to the vending machine for some Funions and a Coke.

Liriano - longest outing of the year yesterday. Granted he gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks in just over 5 innings, but Gardo saw great improvement. If it wasn't for those couple pitches, but it's a step in the right direction.

Looking at the Twins early season schedule, I think we'd have been quite pleased if the team was six games back on May 1, and lo and behold, they are six games back. Best part of that ... they haven't even hit their stride yet.

Season starts today. Wait, Weaver is pitching for the Angels. Season starts day after today.

The Twins have been no hit for 15 straight innings. They scored in one of 27 innings in the three games with California. Jim Hendrix looked a little over-matched last night as Twins pitcher, not even getting out of the third inning.

I know one thing, SOMEONE IS GONNA PAY!!

Baseball is a funny game. When the Twins break out of this, and things do even out, some unsuspecting team (or teams) is/are going to be on the receiving end of a series of butt kicks, like eight out of 10 games or something. We kept hearing out of spring training, "really like this lineup ... we're swinging it well ... we'll score some runs." So there, it's coming.

Span pointed out the rocks in the outfield hide the ball coming out of Weaver's hand. Darn cheaters.

I appreciate it that the Twins keep running the same starting pitchers out there as there is nothing better than a good offensive baseball game for those of us that don't understand the game. Nothing better than 10 to 15 runs a game, just too bad for Twins fans they can't score more than a couple if any at all.
