Dang - ESPN just said with the Rams, Colts, and Vikes all tied the Colts get the #1 pick. Something about cumulative record of opponents - Steinborn might have to explain the math. I'm thinking the Packers have something to do with it though. Darn Cheeseheads.

AP should break 1,000 yards today.

Conversation just heard at the house:

The Vikings won today??

They weren't supposed to win.

Crap.

With AP tearing his ACL will the Vikes now draft a RB right out of the gate? So much for the 1,000 yard season. And if the Vikes win the last game they might screw up the chance at a top three pick.

The offense really needs a makeover. Rudy has some great hands for a TE and it is hard to believe they can't find more ways to get him involved. The braintrust might need to break down the old film from the Fouts Chargers to see how Winslow was used. The option play with Webb looks great but not with Toby as tailback. He can't keep up with Webb. Harvin really needs to be the TB in that scheme. And what's up with routinely running Harvin straight up the gut. That's OK once in a while but why not do a toss sweep with him? Yesterday just showed how many weapons the Vikings have on offense and obviously the current offensive scheme needs an overhaul.

Big game Sunday as it really doesn't get any bigger than the last game of the year. Pounder is cleared to play and meanwhile da Bears have put Cuteler on IR so it looks like Josh McNown will get the nod. Flying Saucer is retiring and the Vikes want to send ole Jimmy out with a win, which could cost the team a couple spots in April's draft. The game is a sellout so Viking fans will be able to enjoy the game from the comforts of the couch. Either that or at Charlies who is open now on Sundays starting this Sunday.

Just a note from Packerland. I just wanted to sincerly say I wish AP would not have gotten hurt. He is a great runnning back no matter what team he plays for - lol. The way he trains he should be good as new by next season. I wish we had him! Take care Viking fans - I know you probably cannot root for the Pack, I understand. Take care and have a great 2012!

With some smart play Sunday, the Vikings have locked themselves into the #3 spot in the upcoming draft. But the biggest story of 2012 for the Vikings is the promotion of Rick Speilman to GM. While other teams that finished with similar records are firing coaches and GM's ( Bears, Colts, Rams, Fins ) the Wilf family is showing the NFL how to run a spiraling franchise, you don't fire people you promote people. That in turn, is how to get the team a new stadium, in California.

Vikings defensive passer rating 2011- 107.6 (32nd, as in last)
Colts 103.9 (31st)

Vikings defensive completion % 2011-68.2 (31st)
Colts 71.2 (32nd)

Vikings interceptions 2011- 8 (last in NFL)
Colts 8 (tied for last)

What do the Colts have to do with the Vikings? Well, looks like Frazier is going to hire their defensive backs coach to be our new Defensive Coordinator.

Couple that D Coordinator story with Governor Bert's (from Sesame Street) message yesterday that none of the stadium proposals are even close to being something that merits any sort of vote ... well, the D-coordinator might be the best news.

Whatever, the Wolves are fun to watch and can carry the day ... at least until Jan. 26?? when Love doesn't sign for the maximum about of money he can earn. Funny, often times a guy is admired for signing for less, "how refreshing, it's not about the money" we might say. And now, we're going to be bit when our big stud ballplayer leaves us for Sunnier Pastures for less money. We will cry foul, and continue to be the sports abyss of the Whole Wide World.

A reference to "Bert" from Sesame Street is not intended to be any reflection as to the poster's approval or disapproval of Governor Dayton's job performance. It is simply intended to share the poster's opinion that he has for a long time thought that the Governor looks like Bert from Sesame Street. For the record, Sesame Street was among the Poster's favorites, and he owns Video Disks of 1970s Sesame Streets that he's shown his kids. In hindsight, some of the Social Commentary is quite stunning.
