An elected official from one of the involved communities indicated that the pledge card response - although not enough to satisfy many of our local officials - has far exceeded expectations and has far outnumbered similar "interest surveys" that have been conducted in the past.
This is a very intersting discussion. Hopefully people will take the time to fully understand the burden this would place on their community, and what kind of risk is involved to the city (and to the local taxpayer) if the subscription rates do not keep this thing fluid after the first couple years of insertion. Most people have cable, internet or phone, so the potential to reach those subscription benchmarks is attainable, but much would depend on cost and service, and those variables are still in the abstract.
