Just got back from the Public meeting at the Sibley county courthouse for input on the RS Fiber Project. Excellant turnout with standing room only attendence. Good presentations by different committees from the RS Fiber Project. A hand full of township commissioners speaking in favor of the project. Residents from all corners of the county making well thought-out comments.

Really a great meeting to be part of.

First we'll have to see how the County commissioners decide to cast their vote! Then, if it is positive, we'll have to wait and see if the City of Henderson can slip into the project, or if we have to wait for some other company to offer to bring Fiber here!

I don't think the city council members in Arlington were representing the people in voting the fiber project down. There are alot of supporters who really didn't know that they were to personally tell the city council members how interested they were in the project. All they thought was necessary was to send in the pledge cards. Disappointed residents.

An elected official from one of the involved communities indicated that the pledge card response - although not enough to satisfy many of our local officials - has far exceeded expectations and has far outnumbered similar "interest surveys" that have been conducted in the past.

This is a very intersting discussion. Hopefully people will take the time to fully understand the burden this would place on their community, and what kind of risk is involved to the city (and to the local taxpayer) if the subscription rates do not keep this thing fluid after the first couple years of insertion. Most people have cable, internet or phone, so the potential to reach those subscription benchmarks is attainable, but much would depend on cost and service, and those variables are still in the abstract.

If you haven't filled out the pledge card, you can do so on-line.

You spelled "interesting" wrong Camel. Throw a comma in there after "internet" in the last sentence too.

Where does Henderson stand on this now? I see Sibley County backed out.

I'd like to know what residents in rural Sibley County think of this?
