Back to back Big Ten wins by Tubby's group, both on the road no less, very impressive. The Coleman kid looked very impressive for a freshman. I wouldn't be surprised if the Gopher win the next 3 out of 5 games.

Hopefully Tubby gets a contract extension. If the team holds together they could be a final four team in a couple years.

Statement game tonight. Sid told Tubby on Sunday morning that he is predicting a Gophers win over Ohio State. If that were anyone else it'd be called a homer prediction, but with 93 years experience covering this stuff Sid has got to be trusted. Anxious to see what Tubby draws up in the half-court for that crucial possession late in the game. He's quite the tactician, he.

It is a homer prediction...Gopher get rolled tonight and Tubby need to go the way of Brad Childress.

Most teams fold up like a cheap tent when facing a 21-point first half deficit on they home court against the No. 7 team in the country. Most teams. But the Gophers showed that they are not most teams, battling and scratching and clawing and diving the jumping and pulling and fighting to where they got to six or seven points in a couple times the second half. Man, they had possession at least eight to 12 times, too, with the ball and at that crucial point where the next basket might've really put them over the hump. Take away that 21-2 run or whatever that Ohio State went on and the gophers win the game 66-57. Sid knew exactly what he was talking about, but even with 93 years experience one can't predict a 21-2 run. I think they go to Wisconsin and win 47-39.

Had to laugh at Mediacom's on screen guide and it's preview of the game last night. It included "Sullinger contends with Sampson III." Trying to make it sound like this epic battle in the paint was gonna be the deciding factor.

If Tubby can keep these guys around they could be decent in the next couple years. That shorter Hollins guy has stepped it up the last two games. Maybe Mbakwe gets to play a 6th year who knows. Were comin'!!!!

So because I'm a sports fan and I used to listen to the Gophers at Purdue on an am radio and play myself in nerf hoops, I am a Gophers basketball fan, although casual in nature these days because of their mediocrity and time restraints. So last night I turn the game on, Gophers vs Northwestern, and sorta pay attention as the lead changes during the second half.

Then, in a tie game, the Gophers get a defensive rebound with 35.9 seconds left, meaning they can hold the ball for the last shot because of the 35 second shot clock. But NOOOOO, not a team that plays under Tubby Smith, best of the worst coaches ever. This kid gets the rebound, heads up court as quickly as possible, beats his guy on the dribble to the baseline, jumps high in the air, realizes he has no shot at the basket and no passing lanes then throws a cross court bounce pass through the lane to a teammate who was not in any position to do anything if the pass had gotten through. The ref says Northwestern ball, I cuss, then they reconvene and give the Gophers the ball back.

This is why I can't pay to close attention to this team. How can a DI college basketball player not recognize the most obvious of situations? Why isn't his coach planting a size 15 up his a$$? Although, Tubby's teams have demonstrated that they rank in the bottom 4 percent of all DI teams when it comes to half-court execution in the last five minutes of a game.

JOKE.
