Good point, i noticed that Mr. Mielke stated that he attempted to register at the Chatter but was unsuccessful. I apologize if i missed approving his registration. Please try again.

This site is rising in popularity with 1500 - 2000 unique visitors a day! I encourage all of our local, county, and state officials to register and join in on these discussions.

Look at it this way. We can drive even faster on 6 now because the water will prevent the deer from bolting across the road. Sweet!!

I am a frequent drive of the road, but not a Sibley County resident. I do appreciate the county engineer's explanations, but some of his comments were inappropriate and hurtful. I'm not sure how long he's been with the county, but he should know that many of the people posting here are life-long residents of the area and have seen many floods and probably have a lot of experience driving safely through flooded areas.

bsorensen's point about RR road is excellent. I've been driving my family on that road (yes, yes, I know it's not the official detour) and have been met with teenagers going 60 mph and nearly careening off the road due to speed and not being careful. Jeez, I must be getting older because I'm talking about the damn teenagers....

People, thank you all for being engaged citizens. This is how it works, you can't just sit and complain, you have to call your officials and be heard (I particularly like TG's activism). If you are one for less government in your lives(we all are in varying degrees), let the citizens take on some responsibility for their own lives by choosing to drive carefully. And for those who wanted change in the last election, this is what you get when you vote in newbies and stir the pot - you might not like what you get. But many times the oldies are set in their ways and won't listen to folks. so what the hell do we do?

You met the Duke boys also, I thought they lived in Hazzard GA.

I do want to thank the Henderson Township officials for trying to keep the frost boils covered on the RR road. It was a minimum maintenance road trying to do a county roads job. The road deserves a good rest.

A longer term and safer solution needs to be met by both State(HWY 93) County(County 6) officials.

Many officials are too busy exploring the misuse of government property to participate in these types of forums.

Geez, I'm away from the 'puter all afternoon and miss all the fun.
All I can say is I based my "washout " statments from Jeff's post on page 2 of this thread, about major repairs needed because of a seperation of a culvert. I was also on site when county employees stuck a probe about 4 feet long into the washout, and they told me they couldn't touch bottom. A local contractor told me he was also on site and was told about how deep the washout was, and he used his decades of experience to suggest remedies. It took 2 days to decide to follow his advice. I guess I agree with the comments regarding the hydroplaning/water in ditches comments
If anyone wishes to accuse me of any untruths, half truths or anything else, go for it. I believe the citizens of eastern Sibley County deserve an apology, not an overzealous attempt at justification

Last time I remember hitting the ditch on #6 was in 1973, and I was given a ride home by the local HPD. He was on duty and not on call. OOPS, better not go there.
