Apparently the culvert has pulled apart near the intersection causing part of the base to wash away. Stay tuned.

A reply to Norton's comment - yah, I think you're right...we should be able to get along. And, our county commissioners should be thinking about how to rectify an ongoing problem with seasonally flooded county roads (like CSAH 6).

The issue of easy access here in the eastern part of the county is an economic issue and should be seen as such by county government. I get the feeling the county seat sees Minnesota River flooding as an 'inconvenience' (for those living off to the west??) and we in the east should just all buck up and be quiet. We don't seem to live in an age of quiet anymore, so I think the county commissioners need to resolve this economic issue for the good of the county.

I'm relatively new to Henderson but I know it's unusual to have to deal with the closed roads 3 times in just over a year.
That said, I think people have been very understanding even while expressing their frustrations.
Much of that frustration could be mitigated with more communication. I know the message Lon posted on behalf of Darin Mielke on the 6th helped us understand and he did so again on Monday. That's a good start but even the road closure maps from Sibley County aren't current.
That said, I think it's more than an inconvenience when the road closures are affecting business and gas prices are so high and the detours ineffectively marked for a prolonged period of time. This is compounded when it's not apparent to business owners and citizens that all options (e.g. single lane, "caution: water on roadway" signs) are being considered.
The decision process should be more transparent and a process in place to receive feedback from the public and I think people will, in turn, be more understanding.
Just my 2 cents.

I've been told that I will be contacted by a county official to justify the road closing issue to me. I don't need an explanation, the public needs to have the roads OPEN!! Please contact your commissioner and engineer and let them know how serious this issue is. There is only one reason those roads are still closed: IT IS BECAUSE WE ARE LETTING THEM! Let our officials know that this is not my problem, it is everyone's. Do not accept any answer except that the roads will open.

I really didnt want to bring this up, but water is dropping, and it is below 733.7. Which should be low enough for HW93, but I havent been down to check if the water is off the road yet. I am just looking for a date, this weekend? Hopefully!

What's the best way to contact these officials, and which ones could we contact?

District One County Commissioner is Jim Nytes. District One is the far eastern portion of Sibley County including County Road 6. He would be one to contact.
