I am researching my family history and any help would be appreciated. My great grandfather was Wilhelm Zuelch who is in the 1905 census with an address of 6th street in Henderson. My Grandfather Was George, however he was called Benjamin and he was a street car operator in St Paul. I believe they emmigrated from Germany (Prussia?) about 1894. My grandfather passed away when I was young so I really didn't get to talk to him about his extended family, which was rather large I have found out.I'm a Grandfather now and I would like to pass this information to my Grand(children?) in time. Thanks for your help. Roger Surratt

Local historian Arlene Busse is checking to see if she can find any information for you. Someone will contact you with what she finds out.

Thank you very much, I will give her a call. I did find a Zuelch farm in Le Center, but I am not sure how long they have been there. My grandfather might have been born in Henderson, I haven't found a birth record yet so this will help. He was the second child born in the US to my family, four older siblings emmigrated with the family from Germany.
Thanks again.

Thank you Mr. Graham. The census shows my Grandfathers older brothers were Max O, Carl H, and Fritz W, His younger brother was Paul H. My Grandfather went by his middle name so I guess it is possible that one of his brothers did the same. Unfortunately they did not spell out the middle names in 1905 so I don't know if one of them was Herman. I'll dig more into it and try to find out what the initials stood for. In 1910 they lived in Renville, if that helps anyone. Thanks again to all of you. Roger Surratt

From other records I have researched I know my Great Grandmothers maiden name was Weiss, so Ernest, Ester, Ida, and Paul on that page are my Grandpa's brothers and sisters, my mother was Rozella on that page (my Grandfathers mothers name was Rose, so Rozella makes sense now). Unfortunately it doesn't seem to go further back than 1900. I have a plate from Prussia that was handed down to me and I was told it was from the Zuelches, so if I keep at this long enough (and with a little help, Thanks everyone) I might be able to finally prove that is where they were from. I guess my love of beer and brats comes naturally. Roger

Hi Roger. Sorry for the (slightly) flaky FB friend request. I had just returned from the MN History Center with a copy of our great-grandfathers death certificate. I was actually a little excited. Then I put Zuelch into a Google search and up pops Henderson. Anyway...some quickie answers... Your Grandfather and mine were brothers. I have copies of your grand (George Benjamin) and great-grandfathers (Fred William) death certificates. The farm in Le Center is my brothers, Wayne. The farm in Jessenland twp was my Grandfathers, Ernest. He moved to Arlington in the 70s. Herman lived North of Le Center in Lexington twp. Fred's obit in the 11/30/1928 "Minneapolis Journal" says Fred settled in Olivia not Renville. Finally I think Rozella's headstone at the Brown Cemetery in Sibley County says Rosalie. I have to check with my brother. I think he has a picture. The 3 death certs I have show both names above plus Rose. I look forward to hearing from you. My email - bzuelch@gmail.com. My warmest regards, Bruce Zuelch, 41291 271st Av, Cleveland,MN.
