How bad was the fire in Belle Plaine? 10 pm news last night briefly mentioned it.

I stopped by this morning as my brother lives above Elsie's Clothes Patch, and the fire dept. and news crews were still there. I was not able to see much, but I did notice that the unit above the Ploetz Agency was completely charred.

Just came back from there...quite a mess. The snorkel rig from Mystic Lake was a big help I was told.

thank God none of the bars were damaged.

Also heard on the news that a mother and child were rescued from the apartments upstairs. Whew!

I was at the football game actually. Took Cty Rd 40 home though and noticed the glow in town and the helicopters. Holy cats!

Is the building a total loss?

Arrested a disgruntled former tenant on arson charges. Haven't released her name yet.

I heard on the noon news today that she was going to be charged with arson. According to a current postal employee/Le Sueur fireman who was there, both stairways were set on fire and people had to be rescued out the window as there was no way out. Seems to me she should be charged with attempted murder. Send her up river I say.
